I understand it’s still August and for most of us the college football season doesn’t really kick off till next weekend. For those who can’t wait till next weekend I strongly suggest you tune in this Saturday to Watch four-time defending national champion North Dakota State take on perennial powerhouse Montana in Missoula. Even though these teams are in college football’s subdivision (FCS) they could easily hang with the big boys. NDSU for example is 8-3 over FBS schools in the last decade with wins over teams like Minnesota, Kansas State, and Iowa State. Montana will have to pull out all the stops if they look to upset the Bison for the first time since 1941.
The 12th ranked Grizzlies are entering the season with a new head coach who brings with him a new innovative offense. Coach Bob Stitt and his fly sweep offense came to Montana after 15 years of dominance at Division II Colorado School of Mines. He’ll have his hands full as the Bison come into town with an astonishing record of 58-3 since 2011. Can the Bison become the first team in the college football history to win five straight national championships? It might be too soon to make these assumptions but hey at least we have football back!

Once again the Weber State Wildcats boast the most talented college basketball team in the Big Sky conference with the Montana Grizzlies right behind them nipping at their heels. However, it’s tough to put Weber State in the top spot of the Big Sky even when they have more talent than the University of Montana. The Montana Grizzlies always seem to win when it matters most, leaving the Weber Wildcats in the dust. Weber State will have to make up for the loss of their all-time leading three point shooter, Damian Lillard, for the second year in a row. Despite the losses, the Weber Wildcats still have a very skilled back court and just need to work on their lack of depth if they want to keep the Grizzlies at bay. Show your pride for Weber State this season with custom Wildcats fan gear!
The Montana Grizzlies ended last season with an impressive 19-1 record in Big Sky play but experienced a tough loss to Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament. This year, there isn’t a go-to big man, but the University of Montana has a deep cast of solid, rotational talented athletes in its college basketball team. If Coach Wayne Tinkle can find someone to make headlines in the front court, it will be no surprise if the University of Montana is the school of the Big Sky conference to make another trip to the NCAA Tournament, with Weber State right there with them. Make sure to get all your Montana Grizzlies gear before game day!
Although Eastern Washington University loss some key players such as leading scorer Justin Crosgile and assistant coach Craig Ehlo, the Eagles roster seems solid for this coming season. This is the third season for Head coach Jim Hayford and he is hoping for a big jump in the Big Sky conference for his young squad. Eastern Washington’s front court is loaded with talent thanks to Sophomore Venky Jois and junior Martin Seiferth. The Eastern Washington Eagles already have a stout defense and should be a team to watch this college basketball season. Cheer on Eastern Washington University with customized Eagles apparel!
The Montana Bobcats managed to finish fourth in the Big Sky even with a season filled with injury and dismissal. This year Montana State will have to fill in the holes left behind by missing seniors Christian Moon and Xavier Blount. Antonio Biglow and incoming sophomore Terrell Brown look like the Bobcats’ best bet to hold down the perimeter. If Paul Egwuonwu can show double-double ability regularly this season, Montana State’s front court will be second only to the Eastern Washington University in the Big Sky. If you’re a Bobcats fan at heart, customize your own Montana State apparel to show your pride!
The Sacramento State Hornets may struggle around the hoop this season with the departure of some seniors. This won’t be anything new seeing as though the Hornets struggled last season. Change could come thanks to the junior guard duo of Mikh McKinney and Dylan Garrity. McKinney is currently Sacramento State’s leading scorer and Garrity is one of the conference’s most efficient returning players. If the back court stays solid on both ends of the floor, Sacramento State fans could have something to cheer for this year. Show your love for the Hornets with custom Sacramento State apparel!
